Clinical Geneticist, Paul Mark reached out for assistance illustrating for his new research paper exploring abdominal wall malformations in utero. It was found a deficiency in a chemical compound NAD+ is a main cause of malformations such as limb-body wall complex (LBWC), pentalogy of Cantell (POC), oculoauriculovertebral spectrum (OAVS), and more. Just as aspen trees share common roots, it is representative that all these malformations can be traced to one cause, the NAD+ deficiency. Creating these images was such a great experience and I got to learn a lot about fetal development. These images were included in the research paper that was published in The American Journal of Medical Genetics in 2022.
